A project release on GitHub with a name “Pink + Purple == Fuchsia (a new Operating System” reveals us some new information on a new project being developed by Google.
This project is about a totally new OS that on the first sight leaves an impression that its mainly meant for IoT (Internet of Things) devices that are being developed by Google. But, a more detailed look from the guys in Android Police reveals that the OS has support for all other devices.
The most interesting thing about this project is that its not based on Linux kernel, like all other operating systems from Google, and projects alike.
Fuchsia is based on Magenta Kernel, that is based on the LittleKernel project. This kernel is mainly used in operative systems that are meant for IoT devices, but in the code there is support for much more devices.
From what we know, Fuchsia will work on two other projects from Google, one being Flutter which is used for the UI in Fuchsia and Dart which is used as a programming language, and there are some sings that the UI will be made with material design.
This operating system which there is no further information will also be Open Source like all other projects from Google.
Is Google going to use this OS only for IoT devices or is it going to be come the new Android or maybe new Chrome OS, only time will tell…
